Clifton Park, NY: The Board of Directors, Staff and Volunteers of CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services are pleased to welcome Sue Malinowski, MS as the new Executive Director and Carrie Jackson as the Director of Finance. Everyone involved in the agency is excited about the leadership, vision, and experience these two appointments bring to CAPTAIN.
Taking the helm on August 2, Ms. Malinowski joined the CAPTAIN Staff with an interest in fundraising, a keen eye for staff development, and a desire to modernize CAPTAIN programs and services.
According to Claire Brown, a member of the CAPTAIN Board of Directors and the Executive Director Search Committee, “I have known Sue for several years, and her energy, enthusiasm and passionate commitment to the CAPTAIN mission will serve us well. Sue brings proven leadership skills to our organization, and we are so proud to have her as our new leader.”
Sue comes to CAPTAIN as a former member of the Board of Directors and as such is familiar with the particular challenges facing a small social service agency in today’s economy. At the same time as donations from individuals are decreasing and Federal, State and local government budgets are tightening, needs for the services CAPTAIN provides in Saratoga County are increasing. Sue plans to find innovative ways to raise funds that fit in with our economic climate as well as modernize several of the CAPTAIN programs, allowing new technologies to be used in ways that help serve the community better.
According to Sue, “I am excited to be a part of a respected and well established organization that does so much to improve the lives of youth and families in Saratoga County. I look forward to working with the incredibly dedicated Board, Staff, Volunteers and business community to strengthen and grow our programs to best meet the ever increasing demand for CAPTAIN services.”
Ms. Malinowski most recently worked at the Saratoga Hospital as the Director of Education. She is a 2004 graduate of the Leadership Saratoga program and serves as a member of their Alumni Board. She was named one of the Saratogian’s 20 over 40 for her commitment to volunteerism. She graduated from SUNY Oneonta where she received her BA, and Sage Graduate School, where she received her MS in Health Services Administration. Ms. Malinowski currently resides in Ballston Spa.
Ms. Carrie Jackson, the newly appointed Director of Finance at CAPTAIN, joins the team with over 15 years of not-for-profit work experience combined with over 10 years of investment banking experience. Carrie holds a BS in Business Administration/Specialization in Finance from Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry, NY, as well as a not-for-profit Management Certificate from Columbia University’s School of Business. Carrie is looking forward to being a part of the new exciting evolutionary journey that will be CAPTAIN’s in the coming years.
