--Youth Care Worker
CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services is looking to hire a Youth Care Worker for the Youth Emergency Runaway and Homeless Shelter in Malta, NY. The CAPTAIN Youth Shelter opened in 1998. It is certified by New York State Office of Children and Family Services and is a safe haven for teens who are homeless, runaways, or in danger of becoming homeless. Most lack appropriate role models to help them develop daily routines to properly manage their lives.
Arriving through a variety of circumstances, youth are welcomed into a supportive, structured environment and supervised by trusted and trained adult role models. The Shelter can serve youth ages thirteen to seventeen for up to thirty days, during which time staff work with the youth to reunite them with their families or with an alternative living arrangement. The CAPTAIN Youth Shelter is committed to ensuring that high-risk youth in our community have access to a combination of services which include: emergency shelter, preventive and aftercare services; case management; and street outreach. The Street Outreach Program assists youth who spend much of their time on the streets where there is a high likelihood of being subjected to exploitation, abuse or violence. By offering outreach services our Street Outreach workers help build positive relationships with caring adults they can trust. The program also assists them in leaving the streets by finding and adjusting to safe living arrangements. In order to help youth become independent, self sufficient, contributing members of society, outreach services are delivered in high profile areas where and when youth are known to congregate. We have multiple sites throughout Saratoga County and are currently seeking a motivated, ambitious, active individual to help assist in our efforts.
Compensation: $10.00 per hour
